Effective Driving Drills From Professional Golf Instructors

The drive is one of the most important shots that you will need to perfect. The reason for this is because it is pretty much the most essential shot of the game. Every round of golf will start with a drive. Therefore this underlines the importance of this shot to your game. As long as you are able to learn the drive, there is nothing that will stop you from making the perfect start to your game.

When you come to think about it, there is not a single player out there who has never wished to send the best drive ever on the green. Everyone wants that perfect drive shot that gets them yards ahead of the rest. Irrespective of how much time you spend on the green practicing, if you cannot get the perfect drive set, you will have a really difficult time with your game.

To make things easier for you, we will work around some of the most important professional golf drills that will help you get your drive right. Pay attention to the following and you will be good to go:

  • Deep drive
  • Give no quarter
  • The hip turn

Deep drive

This is all about simplicity, yet it is one of the most effective drills that you can work around. The first thing that you will need to do is to work around some simple and smaller swings. The idea here is to prepare yourself by loosening up. Once you feel that you have loosened up properly, you can then let go and smack that ball like it stole from you.

You will need to have your feet set together, hit a full swing on the ball, and make sure that as you are about to hit the ball, you are able to shift your weight and strength appropriately. To be precise, this shot requires only about half of your strength.

Give no quarter

For this drill, the concept is to help you learn how to be more conscious of the balance of your drive and your swing. Take a quarter and set it on your leading foot before you swing. It should stay there when the swing is done, or you still have a lot of work to do.

The hip turn

This drill is all about alignment. Having struck the ball, make sure that your hip still remains in the correct alignment, and you will be good to go. Anything other than that means that you still have a long way to go.
