Some Advice on How to Plan a Golf Vacation in Europe

Taking a golf vacation in Europe is an exciting idea, but you don’t want to get overwhelmed by the planning process to the point that it takes away from the fun of the trip. If you have never visited Europe before – or at least never planned a golf vacation – you might have trouble figuring out where to begin. In reality, the process isn’t that difficult as long as you start well in advance, use the internet to complete your research, and take your time until you are sure you have set the itinerary just how you want it.

To help you get started in the right direction, try using the tips below –

  • Pick a general area first. The whole continent of Europe is too large to browse all of the various golf destinations available. Start your planning by narrowing down your search to a specific country or region. Once you decide where you want to visit in general, you can then work on making a list of golf resorts within that area. Just this simple step alone will make the whole process much easier to get a handle on right from the start.
  • Use the power of the internet. Planning a golf vacation is much easier today than it was 10 or 20 years ago thanks to all of the information that is readily available on the internet. Take advantage of this opportunity by doing as much research as you can into any destinations that you are considering. Things to look for include the websites of the resorts themselves, reviews written by other travelers, reviews in magazines, and more. Learn as much as you can ahead of time so you are familiar with everything a specific destination has to offer before you make a reservation.
  • Leave yourself time to relax. A common mistake that first-time golf travelers make is over-booking the trip with tee times each and every day. While you want to play plenty of golf on your trip, you also want to leave some time for other activities – and just for relaxing. Try to leave at least one day open during your trip where you don’t have any golf planned. If you end up deciding that you would like to play golf that day, you can always try to get a tee time once you have arrived.
